The ideal profile
Suited to mature skin over 40 with density loss, dehydration-driven fine lines, and visible thinning. Also ideal for younger people (30+) under high work load, long flights, night shifts, air-conditioned offices. After weight loss the skin can "hang", this therapy "plumps" it back via hydrolysed collagen that stimulates fibroblasts to new production. Especially good after perimenopause and menopause, that is exactly when endogenous collagen production drops by about 30% and the skin needs an external signal for new production. Also suited to people who fly often, cabin dry air dehydrates the skin within hours, and this therapy recharges it. After weaning from breastfeeding it is good too, because the hormonal shift often drops visible density. For young dry types (20-25) it is usually too much, the Ultra Intensive Hydrating Therapy fits better. For truly deep wrinkles add the Intensive Anti-Aging Lift to the course. Visible result after 2-3 sessions; stable improvement in density and hydration comes after the full course.
When to postpone
We do not perform the therapy during pregnancy or breastfeeding (precaution), on open wounds, active infections, or active skin diseases. Allergy to hydrolysed collagen (rare, but possible in vegan sensitivity or fish allergy if the collagen is fish-derived), yes. After laser, 14 days. After injectable filler, 14 days, so the filler distribution is not disrupted. After injectable botox, 7 days. Active viral infection (flu, COVID), wait for full recovery. Fresh sunburn, 14 days. Skin with diagnosed rosacea in flare will get more out of our dedicated sensitive-skin therapy. With active oncology treatment, only with the treating doctor's approval, because collagen stimulates cell division. If your skin is hyper-reactive right now, start with the Soothing Therapy and move to this one after stabilisation. Active eczema or psoriasis in flare, wait for remission. With a diagnosed autoimmune condition (lupus, scleroderma) check with a dermatologist before booking. If you are in active oncology treatment, the therapy is not contraindicated but requires approval from the treating doctor, because collagen stimulates cell division.
Expectations and plan
A single session gives visible plumpness and hydration for 10-14 days. A course of 4-6 sessions every 14 days plus home care delivers 2-3 months of stable improvement in skin density and hydration. After the first session expect plumper and more radiant skin for 10-14 days; after the third, noticeably improved density and reduced dehydration-driven fine lines; after the full course, stably improved skin structure for 2-3 months. The therapy does NOT erase deep wrinkles or significant tissue descent, for those, we talk about lifting or a dermal filler. Oral collagen powder (10g daily) reinforces the effect from inside for 6-8 weeks. Without SPF and hydrating maintenance the result is lost within days. This protocol pairs perfectly with the 3D Therapy, they work on different levels: 3D at the peptide level for lifting, this one at the structural level for hydration. Additional oral collagen powder (10g daily) reinforces the effect from inside and extends the result. Seasonality: the therapy works year-round because there is no peel, but it is especially useful in winter when dry air dehydrates the skin. Read how it works in the cabin and the aftercare plan. All protocols: catalog. For home maintenance: hydration page.
Who gets the best results
From our practice, three client profiles get the strongest result from deep hydrating therapy. First: a woman aged 32-40 with early aging signs and an active home routine, for her, the cumulative course effect is most visible because the skin already works with actives and takes professional signals better. Second: a 40-50 year-old who has not had professional therapies before but has healthy, well-maintained skin, for her the first session often delivers a surprisingly strong effect because there is no built-up resistance. Third: a client over 50 with specific concerns (loss of density, uneven tone, fine lines), for her we work in a long course and pair with other protocols; the accumulated improvement over 3-4 months is significant. Who does not get the strongest result: women who try a single session just to test without home follow-up, or clients with a very thin barrier from aggressive home actives, for those we first restore, then stimulate. If you recognise yourself in the first three profiles, your chances of a real result are very high. If you recognise yourself in the fourth, say so at the consultation and we will start with a gentler protocol that prepares the skin for sharper sessions later. For the full candidate profile see the who-it-is-for article.
Is it for you? Self-assessment
Before booking deep hydrating therapy, run through this short list. If you answer yes to at least 3 of 5, your chances of a real result are high. First: do you have at least one of the concerns this therapy specifically addresses (see the Ideal Profile section)? Second: does your skin tolerate active ingredients at home (retinol, acids, vitamin C) without a significant reaction? Third: do you have a daily routine in place with cleansing, serum, cream, and SPF50? Without that last one, the therapy will lose part of its effect. Fourth: can you commit to a course of at least 4 sessions over 6-8 weeks? A single session gives an initial effect, but real change comes from accumulation. Fifth: are you ready to add or maintain home care with the recommended products for at least 4 weeks after each session? If the answer is yes to most, book. If yes to 1-2, book a consultation first; we will recommend a better start or discuss how to prep the skin for this therapy. If no to most, there is a more suitable protocol for you, and at the consultation we will find it together. For the in-cabin walkthrough see the procedure article.
Compared with alternative protocols
We often get asked how deep hydrating therapy compares with our other therapies. Compared with ultra intensive hydrating therapy this therapy fits a specific skin profile and a specific goal better. The two therapies are not interchangeable, they work on different mechanisms and we often combine them in one course for a fuller effect. The choice depends on three factors: your goal (glow, rejuvenation, lifting, tone evening), your skin type (normal, dry, oily, sensitive), and your skin history (have you had professional therapies before, do you use actives at home). At the consultation we review these three factors and propose a specific plan, often a combination of 2-3 therapies in a course that work synergistically. We do not recommend a one-size-fits-all therapy, results are much better when the protocol is specifically chosen. If you have had professional sessions before and know how your skin reacts to actives, say so, it speeds up the choice and often lets us start with a sharper plan from the start. See our full protocols catalog for a detailed comparison between therapies.
