Sens'Hyal™: Dual Hydration for Sensitive Skin

Sens’Hyal™ is the trade name of an ingredient developed specifically for sensitive, reactive skin. It combines two approaches at once, hydration and calming, which on this skin type usually go hand in hand.

What It Is

The ingredient is a derivative of hyaluronic acid, modified so that alongside holding water it also addresses the discomfort reactive skin feels.

Why Sensitive Skin Needs Both Actions

On reactive skin the barrier is usually weakened. A weakened barrier lets water out and irritants in, which produces dryness and easier flushing at the same time. Which is why hydration alone, or calming alone, is rarely enough.

The loop that forms

Dry skin irritates more easily, and irritated skin loses even more water. An ingredient working in both directions breaks that loop more effectively than two separate products layered on top of each other.

What the Data Shows

The raw-material supplier reports reduced redness and increased hydration in the deeper layers after roughly a month of regular use. Those results come from the supplier trials and are not independently confirmed, so it is fair to read them as manufacturer data rather than established fact.

Who It Suits

Sensitive skin, a tendency to flush, skin after a treatment, and skin that reacts to a change of season. It also suits the recovery period after over-exfoliation. A full regime for this skin type is in our sensitive skin routine.

How to Use It

Why “For Sensitive Skin” Is Not a Guarantee

The claim on the packaging has no legal definition and is not verifiable. A product can carry it and still contain fragrance or essential oils, which are among the more common causes of irritation.

What to check instead

Look at the ingredient list for parfum or fragrance, for essential oils, and for alcohol high up the list. A short formula is almost always a safer bet than a long one, whatever the front of the pack says.

How Long It Takes

Comfort returns quickly, often within the first few applications. A visible reduction in redness takes longer, usually a few weeks of consistent use and, just as importantly, an absence of irritants during that time.

If during that same period you keep exfoliating often or introducing new products, the effect will not be clear. On sensitive skin, patience does more than adding one more product.

Morning and evening, on slightly damp skin, before your cream. It pairs well with panthenol, centella and ceramides. On very reactive skin, introduce it on its own, with no other new products in the same period, so you can see clearly how you respond.
