What collagen does in skincare

A whole collagen molecule is too large to pass through the skin, and that is true of every cream. That is why Collagena Professional uses a hydrolysate: collagen broken down into peptides of 2,000 to 2,500 daltons, according to the manufacturer. They hold moisture in the upper layers and work alongside the hyaluronic acid and peptides in the formula.

Does collagen from a cream get into the skin?

The whole collagen molecule does not. A hydrolysate is broken down into smaller peptides that hold moisture in the upper layers of the skin, so collagen skincare is judged by hydration and how the skin looks, not as a replacement for the skin's own collagen.

What is the difference between collagen and a collagen hydrolysate?

A hydrolysate is the same protein broken into shorter chains. That makes it lighter, lets it dissolve in the formula and lets it hold water at the skin's surface.

Can I combine collagen skincare with vitamin C or retinol?

Yes. Collagen serums and creams pair well with vitamin C in the morning and retinol in the evening. For sensitive skin, introduce actives one at a time.

Can I order without a business account?
