Why a separate cream for the eye area
Around the eyes the skin has fewer oil glands and is moving all day, with every blink and smile. A face cream is often too rich for it, or carries ingredients that sting the eyes. Eye products have lighter textures and formulas made for this area.
For morning puffiness a lighter, cooling texture works best; for fine lines look for peptides, and for hydration hyaluronic acid and glycerin. Your face serum can stay under the eye product, as long as it does not reach the lid itself.
How to apply an eye cream
An amount the size of a grain of rice is enough for both eyes. Apply it with your ring finger along the bone under the eye and out to the temple, patting lightly, without pulling the skin. At night keep it a little away from the lashes, so the product does not get into the eye while you sleep.
