Why dark circles appear

There are several causes and they often overlap. On thinner or paler skin the vessels beneath show through as blue and purple. On a darker phototype the cause is more often pigmentation. A third possibility is a shadow cast by the anatomy of the face itself, where there is a hollow under the eye. Heredity, tiredness and allergies make each of these more visible.

That means the result from the same cream differs from person to person and cannot be promised. Pigmented circles respond to care for a more even tone; vascular and anatomical ones respond less and are corrected elsewhere, by an aesthetic medicine specialist.

Puffiness, and how to apply the care

Morning puffiness is usually retained fluid and eases through the day. A cool texture, light tapping from the inner corner outwards, a higher pillow and less salt in the evening all help. If the puffiness is constant and does not settle, the cause may be medical and is a reason to see a doctor.

An amount the size of a grain of rice is enough for both eyes. Apply it with your ring finger along the bone under the eye, without pulling, and not too close to the lashes. More on textures and application under eye creams.
